Community Master Plans

The objective of the Master Plans (Action Plans) was the formulation of a development program of projects / measures with potential funding from the EU Structural Funds and government resources, with the aim of promoting sustainable development and improving the quality of life of the residents.

The preparation of the Action Plans was based on the development prospects and the problems and needs of each community. The main elements examined were the architectural, cultural and environmental wealth, the building stock, the technical and social infrastructure.

The formulation of Action Plans was carried out through participatory processes such as consultations with the Local Authorities and open discussions with the general public for purposes of collecting information and recording opinions / suggestions.

ALA prepared approximately 50 such Master Plans between 2006 and 2012 for a number of Cypriot rural and semi-rural communities in collaboration with various local Architectural Practices.
