This project involves the development of a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) for the urban area of the Famagusta District, under the control of the Government of the Republic of Cyprus, including the City Centre of Paralimni and the urban area of Protaras and Ayia Napa.
The vision of the SUMP is the creation of a sustainable city by 2030. In this context, the aim of the SUMP is to satisfy the mobility needs of people and businesses in the Study Area for a better quality of life guided by a number of high-level objectives which reflect the objectives of the EU White Paper on Transport, and the supporting SUMP Guidance.
The policies and measures defined in a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan cover all modes and forms of transport in the entire urban agglomeration, including public and private, passenger and freight, motorised and non-motorised, moving and parking.
ALA is a principal member of the Consortium led by MIC-HUB for the preparation of the SUMP for the urban area of the Famagusta District and has been tasked with the execution of the required Strategic Environmental Assessment Study for the SUMP while contributing on environmental and planning matters all through its preparation.
